Railcraft Track Types

Overview

Railcraft provides multiple track types with different properties for rail transportation. Each track type has specific characteristics including speed limits, durability, and special features.

Track Types

Iron Track

  • Registry: Vanilla rail
  • Rail material: Standard iron rails
  • Railbed: Wood
  • Max Speed: Standard (0.4 blocks/tick)
  • Usage: Basic vanilla-compatible track

Abandoned Track

  • Registry: track_flex_abandoned
  • Rail material: Standard rails
  • Railbed: Wood
  • Max Speed: Standard
  • Visual: Weathered/overgrown appearance
  • Usage: Aesthetic/nostalgic purposes

Reinforced Track

  • Registry: track_flex_reinforced
  • Rail material: Reinforced iron rails
  • Railbed: Stone
  • Max Speed: Higher than standard
  • Durability: More resistant to explosion damage
  • Usage: High-traffic areas, mining operations

Electric Track

  • Registry: track_flex_electric
  • Rail material: Standard rails
  • Railbed: Wood
  • Max Speed: Standard
  • Feature: Can interact with electric systems
  • Usage: Powered rail sections

Strap Iron Track

  • Registry: track_flex_strap_iron
  • Rail material: Strap iron rails
  • Railbed: Wood
  • Max Speed: Standard
  • Usage: Low-speed decorative track

High Speed Track

  • Registry: track_flex_high_speed
  • Rail material: Speed rails
  • Railbed: Stone
  • Max Speed: Significantly higher than standard
  • Usage: Long-distance fast travel

High Speed Electric Track

  • Registry: track_flex_hs_electric
  • Rail material: Speed rails
  • Railbed: Stone
  • Max Speed: Highest speed capability
  • Usage: High-speed rail networks

Rail Ingredients

Tracks require different rail materials:

  • RAIL_STANDARD: Iron ingot
  • RAIL_SPEED: Gold (for high speed)
  • RAIL_REINFORCED: Special reinforced iron

Railbed Types

  • Wood railbed: Cheaper, standard speed
  • Stone railbed: Higher speed, more expensive

Track Support

All tracks require proper support:

  • TrackSupportTools.isSupported() checks valid support
  • Unsupported tracks will break
  • Maximum support distance varies by track type

Flex Tracks

Railcraft flex tracks can be placed in any length:

  • Crafted in batches of 32 segments
  • Automatically connect to adjacent tracks
  • Support for various architectural layouts

Usage Notes

  1. Early Game: Use Iron or Abandoned tracks
  2. Mid Game: Upgrade to Reinforced for durability
  3. Late Game: High Speed tracks for fast travel
  4. Electric systems: Use Electric variants near power infrastructure

Track Kits

Various track kits can be applied to outfitted tracks:

  • Switches and junctions
  • Routing kits for cart pathfinding
  • Detector kits for cart sensing
  • Control kits for speed regulation

Track Elevator

Special elevator tracks allow vertical cart movement:

  • Connects two track levels
  • Uses elevator track blocks
  • Supports both X and Z axis orientations
