Steam Oven

Overview

The Steam Oven is a Railcraft multi-block processing machine that uses steam instead of direct fire for cooking/smelting operations. It provides faster processing than standard furnaces when connected to a steam boiler system.

Structure

The steam oven is a 3×3×3 multi-block structure:

  • Structural blocks - oven frame
  • Controller block - master tile entity

Dimensions

  • Width: 3 blocks
  • Depth: 3 blocks
  • Height: 3 blocks

Steam Consumption

The steam oven consumes steam from an attached boiler system:

  • Steam source: Connected via ISteamUser interface
  • Consumption rate: Based on processing operations

Processing

The steam oven can process:

  • Standard smelting recipes (faster)
  • Custom Railcraft recipes
  • Steam-specific recipes

Structure Pattern

Patterns defined in TileSteamOven:

  • B - Oven frame block
  • M - Master controller block
  • A - Air/internal chamber

Input/Output

  • Input: Items placed in input slot (manual or automated)
  • Output: Processed items in output slot
  • Steam: Connected from boiler system

Recipe Speed

Processing time vs standard furnace:

  • Standard Furnace: ~10 ticks per operation
  • Steam Oven: Faster with sufficient steam supply

GUI

Accessed via EnumGui.STEAM_OVEN:

  • Input slot for raw materials
  • Output slot for processed items
  • Steam pressure/temperature indicator
  • Processing progress

Relationship to Boiler

The steam oven requires steam from a Boiler:

Boiler → Steam → Steam Oven → Faster Processing

Without adequate steam supply, the oven operates at reduced efficiency or stops.

Visual States

The oven controller tracks state via icons:

  • Idle state
  • Active/processing state
  • Low steam warning

Rotation

The steam oven can be rotated to face different directions:

  • Valid rotations: Horizontal faces (N, S, E, W)
  • Uses ITileRotate interface

Usage

  1. Build the 3×3×3 structure
  2. Connect steam pipes from boiler
  3. Place input items
  4. Collect processed output
  5. Monitor steam consumption
