Flux Transformer

Overview

The Flux Transformer is a Railcraft multi-block energy storage structure. It stores RF (Redstone Flux) energy and can redistribute it to connected machines and cables.

Structure

The flux transformer uses StructureLogic for multi-block detection:

  • Pattern-based structure
  • Controller/master block
  • Frame blocks

Energy Storage

Parameter Value
Energy Type RF (Redstone Flux)
Storage Capacity Based on structure size
Max Input Configurable
Max Output 0 (input only)

Interface Implementation

The TileFluxTransformer implements IEnergyStorage:

  • receiveEnergy() - Accept RF input
  • extractEnergy() - Returns 0 (output via other mechanisms)
  • getEnergyStored() - Current stored energy
  • getMaxEnergyStored() - Maximum capacity

Structure Pattern

Patterns defined in TileFluxTransformer:

  • Multi-level structure patterns
  • B - Transformer frame
  • M - Master block

Energy Flow

  1. Input: RF energy enters via receiveEnergy()
  2. Storage: Energy stored in internal capacitors
  3. Distribution: Energy pushed to adjacent blocks via EnergyPushLogic

Usage

  1. Build the transformer structure
  2. Connect RF sources (engines, other transformers)
  3. Connect machines requiring power
  4. Energy automatically distributes to needs

Charge Network

The flux transformer integrates with Railcraft’s Charge network:

  • Part of the charge distribution system
  • Can connect to other charge-capable blocks
  • Uses ChargeSourceLogic for energy output

GUI

May provide GUI via EnumGui for:

  • Energy storage display
  • Input/output rate monitoring
  • Network status

Comparison with Other Energy Storage

Device Capacity Output Special
Flux Transformer Medium Yes Multi-block
Capacitor Small Yes Single block
Stirling Generator N/A Yes Converts fuel to RF

Placement

The flux transformer should be placed:

  • Near machines requiring power
  • At network junctions
  • In multi-block form for maximum capacity
